SIX MYTHS THAT HOLD YOU BACK
01
Myth of Perpetual Bliss:
Implies that once married, couples will experience a constant state of happiness.
In reality, all couples face challenges, conflicts, and ups and downs in their relationships.
A healthy marriage involves learning to navigate these challenges together.
02
Myth of the One True Soulmate:
Perpetuates the idea that there is one perfect soulmate for each person
In reality, successful marriages are built on commitment, effort, and compatibility, rather than the notion of a singular, predestined soulmate.
Healthy marriages involve two individuals who choose to work together and build a life based on shared values and mutual respect.
03
Myth of Mind Reading:
Belief that spouses should intuitively know each other’s thoughts, needs, and desires without explicit communication.
Effective communication is essential in any marriage.
Assuming that your partner can read your mind can lead to misunderstandings, unmet expectations, and frustration.
04
Myth of Independence Loss:
Suggests that getting married means giving up one’s individuality and independence.
A healthy marriage allows both partners to maintain their individual identities and interests while nurturing their relationship.
Marriage involves sharing a life but does not require the loss of individuality.
05
Myth of Equal Contribution:
Implies that both partners must contribute equally in all aspects of the relationship at all times.
Can create unrealistic pressure and expectations for strict equality in roles and responsibilities.
Focus should be on balance and flexibility in roles and responsibilities, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.
06
Myth of Relationship Fixes:
Implies that marriage will automatically solve personal and emotional issues.
In reality, unresolved personal issues often persist in marriage.
Marriage can provide love and support but cannot magically solve deep-seated personal problems or emotional wounds.
